NEWS****** ******FLASH

CMSS is launching a new Outreach Service on 9th July 2013!

We aim to provide fun packed activities in a safe, healthy and dynamic environment for adults with Cerebral Palsy and associated disabilities.

Our purpose is to promote dignity to help individuals develop / retain / regain appropriate skills in order to support them to be independent.

Direct Payments and Personal Budgets are a central part of the personalisation agenda. It allows service users choice and control over the care and services they would to like receive. If you are in receipt of Direct Payments or a Personal Budget you can use these funds to access activities at CMSS.

A brief assessment will be carried out in order for our tutors to be able to provide you with a fulfilling session and to ensure that your chosen activity is suitable for your needs.

If you are unsuccessful in gaining a place on the first course, you will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted in due course.

What Activities will CMSS offer?

Zumba provides a social fun outlet for adults with disabilities whilst enjoying movement to different rhythms of music. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumbas choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves.

The sessions will ensure that the Clients engage in all aspects of exercise using different movements, music and exercise. This session is run by a qualified Zumba instructor who engages the fun factor as well as routine and structure.

*Jubilee*

CMSS celebrated it’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and what a year it was. We enjoyed past many events throughout the year, bringing together many of the people who have been involved with CMSS over the 60 years.

On 29th September the actual anniversary of CMSS, we held a Gala Day to celebrate this momentous occasion. We had a very special visitor, Jean Martin (nee Cantly) whose father George, along with many other forward thinking parents, was the instigator of the forming of our organisation all those years ago.

It was fitting for her to release the first of 60 balloons, each one representing a year of history of CMSS, a history of our Clients moving forward, initially in tiny steps and now it seems, in great leaps.

As the finale, we released one very large balloon this was to symbolise our hopes and aspirations for the future. The mantel has now been passed to the next generation, long may it continue.

The Events held throughout this year:

Thank you

Betty Morris.
